We are looking forward to a busy week of harvesting, crushing, pressing, and, of course, wine tasting.

Tomorrow, we will harvest and crush Cabernet Sauvignon from the LindHill Viineyard, located at about 2250 feet elevation above Lexington Dam near downtown Los Gatos.  Located above the fog line, the vineyard gets full sun so the grapes are exposed to moderate temperatures, just perfect for the thick skins to ripen and not so hot that they turn into raisins.

We will also be pressing Syrah from the Pasha Vineyard in Santa Clara Valley.  Similar to past years, the Syrah has beautiful color extraction and fruit-forward flavors with good tannins.  We still have Pinot Noir and Zinfandel in the fermenters for another week or so and then we will press the juice.

Santa Cruz Second Harvest Food BankNext weekend, the winery will be open for wine tasting from noon to 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday (September 27 and 28).  If you visit us, ask for a peek inside the winery as you might have the chance to see and smell, and maybe taste, freshly crushed juice. Have your wine tasting fee waived by donating two non-perishable food items to our Second Harvest Santa Cruz donation barrel. The most needed food items include powdered milk, peanut butter, canned meats and stews, cereal, fruit juices, tuna, pasta, rice and beans.

Grazing on the GreenOn Saturday, September 27, we will be pouring at the 11th Annual Gourmet Grazing on the Green in Aptos, one of our favorite events.  This annual fundraiser for the Santa Cruz Cancer Benefit Group will be held at Aptos Village Park and will feature excellent wine, food, live music, and more. Ticket price includes a commemorative wine glass and all food and wine tastings.

Hope to see you next weekend in Aptos or at the winery!
