October has been a blur of harvest activities. In early October, we crushed and pressed Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot and Cabernet as well as Santa Clara Valley Syrah and Zinfandel. Then, last week, we crushed five tons of Carneros Merlot. The Carneros Merlot is now done with fermentation so we will be pressing it this weekend. Due to the high demand for our ever-popular Merlot, we are also getting some Santa Cruz Mountains Merlot, which we will crush today. Then, we will sit back with a well-deserved glass of wine and enjoy Autumn while the wine settles in to age in oak barrels.
Look for us at the Half Moon Bay Food and Wine Fare on November 3 and at the winery on November 17 and 18. It’s not too early to think about your holiday wine and food pairings!
Joyce, thank you for this newsy bits. I love them especially because it lets me know what’s going on at the winery – what John is involved in. You do such a good job writing the news from the winery, too.
