Since bottling is done (thanks again to our winery helpers) and harvest is still a few weeks away, our winemakers took advantage of the lull for a little bit of me-time.  So, how does a winemaker spend a day off?

California CoastWinemaker John entertained visiting family and made day trips to show off some of the wonderful sights along the Central Coast.  John’s family particularly enjoyed a late lunch and extraordinary views from the terrace at Nepenthe’s Restaurant in Big Sur.

Villa del Monte wine and cheeseWinemaker Neil and his family headed to Paso Robles for family time and some wine tasting, kayaking, shopping, and relaxing.  A highlight of Neil’s trip was a visit to the Bella Luna Winery tasting room where he and his family ooh’ed and awe’d over some of the local Paso wines.

Now, it’s time to get back to work and get the winery ready for harvest.  There are barrels to toast, grapes to check, and pH tests to run so it is onward and upward!
