We are deep in the 2013 harvest and so far we have crushed and pressed Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet and Pinot as well as Santa Clara Valley Zinfandel.  Today, we pressed Nebbiolo from the southern part of the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA and next week we will pick and press Malbec from Paicines and Merlot from the Santa Cruz Mountains.

NebbioloThe 2013 Nebbiolo will be our first vintage of this varietal and we are excited about this new addition to our wine portfolio.  Nebbiolo is an Italian varietal associated with the Barolo and Barbaresco wines of the Piedmont region of Italy. Nebbiolo is a late ripener with naturally high acid.  Typically, Nebbiolo is a lightly colored red wine that is high in tannin when first released.  As the wine ages, the tannins mellow and the wine takes on a brick/orange hue with flavors of herbs, cherries, and violets.  Our Nebbiolo grapes come from the one-acre of the Regan Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, located at an elevation of 500’.

We will be open for wine tasting and wine club pick ups on November 23 and 24.  Come on by to taste our current releases and to get an update on our 2013 wines.
